Dr Van Bortel's past and present work includes work in (1) Public (Mental) health & development, (2) stigma/discrimination, (3) Leadership, capacity building and coachin. She is currently working on the WHO mandate "Leadership, Governance and Capacity Building in Global Public Mental Health" as well as with the World Economic Forum on their mandate "Bring mental illness to the global health and development agendas and de-stigmatize the current understanding of mental illness."
